The Meaning of Life

I was recently reading Ecclesiastes and came across this:

Eccl. 1, V.2 "'Meaningless! Meaningless!' says the teacher. 'Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless!"

As I read on, it came to my realization, that everything IS meaningless! The countless worries and stress and troubles and drama and crazy busy lives...they are meaningless! The struggles we have today, have been lived through before. The gossip we spread around today, has been spread around before. The things that we try to do to make our lives better, guess what? It's already been done. Nothing in this world is new. Yeah, yeah, there's technology and houses and toys and cars... But the sole root of our lives (our hearts) are not new. In today's world, it's so common to focus on our problems, stress, or even the happiness and joy of our lives. But what do those things really mean in the whole scheme of things? Nothing!

It's rather crazy to think of our lives as they are in the length of eternity. Ha. Makes me feel so small and insignificant. BUT, despite what "the teacher" has to say, there is a meaning to life. Our purpose here on earth is not meaningless. Developing and strengthening a relationship with Christ and spreading His love and grace to others to further His kingdom--THAT is meaningful!
